• Evacuate the site of the leak as quickly as possible.
• As you are leaving, make sure you don’t use anything that could create a spark, such as a phone or a light switch. Put out any potential sources of ignition on your way out as well.
• If you can safely access it, shut off the propane supply valve on your tank.
• When you are far enough away from the site of the leak, contact both 911 and your propane provider.
• Do not return to the site of the leak until you have been cleared to do so by emergency services.

As a safety precaution, a propane tank should never be 100% full, even after a recent fuel delivery. The propane that goes into a tank is in a liquid form, which means that it will expand as temperatures rise. There needs to be room in your tank to allow for this expansion. Therefore, a propane tank should never be filled above the 80% point.
