If you just recently installed a propane tank on your property here in the Dallas-Forth Worth area, you may find yourself with lots of questions about your home’s new addition. That is totally fair considering the large amount of information that you now need to be aware of.

This may be one of the questions you are asking yourself now that you have a propane tank at your home, especially if you are looking for ways to minimize the visual impact of your tank, improve its appearance or help it match your personal aesthetics.
Answering this question requires a bit of a deep dive.
The short answer to this question is yes. However, there are some specifications, regulations and guidelines that should be followed.
First, if you are leasing a propane tank (which is an option with Yellow Rose Propane!) painting this tank is not a good idea since you do not technically own it.
Additionally, you are going to want to select a light paint color to minimize heat absorption. A dark color will cause your propane tank to absorb more heat and that will contribute to a rise in internal pressure. When a propane tank’s pressure reaches an unsafe point you are at risk of pressure relief valve activation and complete tank failure. The paint that you choose should also be durable and specifically made for metal. This will help protect your tank from corrosion and the elements.
After you have selected a type of paint, you should check to make sure that it meets local propane tank safety standards.
If you are new to using a propane tank this may be another question that you have. A propane tank is actually considered full at the 80% and it should not be filled beyond this point for safety reasons since propane needs room to expand as it heats up.
Therefore, if you have a 500-gallon propane tank you should not expect to have 500 gallons of fuel in it at a time (tanks of this size actually only safely hold about 400 gallons of propane at a time).
There is no need to add the stress of tracking fuel levels and running out of propane to your already full plate and that is not necessary with Yellow Rose’s wireless tank monitor services. The Otodata monitors that we provide to our customers measures the fuel levels in your tank and sends us this information in real time. When your propane levels get to a certain point, we’ll get a notification and then schedule your next fuel delivery accordingly. You don’t have to worry about anything!
If you are a homeowner in North Central Texas who is new to using a propane tank and needs propane tank and propane services that you can count on look no further than Yellow Rose Propane.
